Privacy Policy
Effective date: April 1, 2026
1. Introduction
Advanced Rescue Solutions LLC ("ARS," "we," "our," or "us") operates the ARS Instructor Field Guide mobile application ("ARS FOG" or the "App"). This Privacy Policy describes what information we collect (and do not collect), how we handle data in connection with your use of the App, and your choices regarding that data.
This Privacy Policy applies to the ARS FOG mobile application available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. It does not apply to other Advanced Rescue Solutions websites, products, or services, which may have their own privacy policies.
By downloading, installing, or using the App, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy.
2. Information We Do NOT Collect
We are committed to user privacy. The ARS FOG App is designed as a fully offline, self-contained reference tool. We do not collect, transmit, or process any personal information. Specifically:
- No account or registration required. The App does not require you to create an account, log in, or provide any personally identifiable information (PII) such as your name, email address, phone number, mailing address, or date of birth.
- No location data. The App does not request, access, or collect your device's GPS coordinates, Wi-Fi location, Bluetooth signals, or cellular network location.
- No analytics or usage tracking. The App does not integrate any first-party or third-party analytics, telemetry, or tracking services. This includes but is not limited to Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, Mixpanel, Amplitude, Segment, Sentry, Crashlytics, or similar services. We do not track your usage patterns, session duration, screens viewed, features used, or interactions within the App.
- No advertising or ad tracking. The App contains no advertisements and does not integrate any advertising SDKs, demand-side platforms, or ad networks. We do not collect or use the Apple Advertising Identifier (IDFA), Google Advertising ID (GAID), or any other advertising identifiers.
- No device sensors or permissions. The App does not request or access your camera, microphone, contacts, photo library, calendar, health data, NFC, Bluetooth, or biometric authentication (Face ID, Touch ID, fingerprint).
- No network requests for data collection. The App does not transmit any data to ARS-operated servers or any third-party servers for the purpose of data collection, diagnostics, or crash reporting.
3. Data Stored Locally on Your Device
The App stores a small amount of functional data exclusively on your device. This data is never transmitted to ARS or any third party, and exists solely to improve your experience:
- Reading position: The last page number you viewed in the field guide, so you can resume where you left off.
- Bookmarks: Pages you choose to bookmark for quick access.
- Calculator inputs: Your most recent values entered in the rescue calculators (e.g., trench depth, space dimensions, air exchange settings) are retained for convenience between sessions.
- Tutorial completion status: A simple flag indicating whether you have completed the in-app usage tutorial.
This data is stored in your device's local storage (localStorage) and the App's local SQLite database, both of which reside entirely on your device. This data is not synced, backed up, or transmitted to any cloud service, remote server, or backup system operated by ARS.
4. Data Security
Because we do not collect, transmit, or store user data on any server, the security of your data depends on the security of your physical device. We recommend that you:
- Use a passcode, Face ID, or Touch ID to protect access to your device
- Keep your device's operating system up to date
- Only download the App from official sources (Apple App Store or Google Play Store)
The App itself does not implement additional encryption for locally stored data such as bookmarks and calculator values, as this data is non-sensitive functional data that contains no personal information.
5. Data Collected by Apple and Google
When you download or purchase the App through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, the platform provider (Apple Inc. or Google LLC) may collect information in accordance with their own privacy policies. This may include your purchase history, payment information, device identifiers, and other data. ARS does not receive or have access to this data.
For more information, please refer to:
6. App Store Privacy Disclosures
Apple App Store Privacy Nutrition Label
In accordance with Apple's App Store requirements, the ARS FOG App declares: "Data Not Collected." We do not collect any data from this App. No data is linked to your identity or used to track you.
Google Play Data Safety
In accordance with Google Play's Data Safety requirements: this App does not share any data with third parties, does not collect any data, and data stored locally on-device is not transmitted off-device. The App does not use data for advertising or marketing purposes.
7. Third-Party Links
The App includes links to external third-party resources for informational and emergency purposes. These links open in your device's web browser or phone dialer and take you outside of the App. Third-party resources include:
- ChemTrec (1-800-262-4357) — 24/7 HazMat emergency response
- Poison Control (1-800-222-1222) — 24/7 poison guidance
- DOT Emergency Response Guidebook (PHMSA)
- Manufacturer Emergency Response Guides (ergonline.com)
- USGS Maps
- Google Translate
When you access these external links, you are subject to the privacy policies and terms of service of those third-party providers. ARS has no control over and assumes no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or data practices of any third-party sites or services. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any external resource you access.
8. Data Sharing and Disclosure
Because the ARS FOG App does not collect any personal data, we have no personal data to share, sell, rent, trade, or otherwise disclose to any third party. Specifically:
- We do not sell personal information to any party.
- We do not share data with advertisers, ad networks, or data brokers.
- We do not share data with analytics providers.
- We do not share data with affiliated or unaffiliated third parties for marketing purposes.
9. Data Retention and Deletion
All functional data generated by the App (bookmarks, reading position, calculator values) is stored locally on your device and is retained only as long as the App is installed. You can delete this data at any time by:
- Uninstalling the App: Deleting the App from your device will permanently and irreversibly remove all locally stored data associated with the App.
- Clearing App storage: On most devices, you can clear the App's cached data and local storage through your device's Settings app (Settings > Apps > ARS FOG > Storage > Clear Data, or equivalent).
Because ARS does not collect or store any data on our servers, there is no account to delete, no server-side data to request erasure of, and no need to submit a data deletion request.
10. Children's Privacy
The ARS FOG App is intended for use by trained professional rescue personnel and is not directed at, designed for, or marketed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13 (as defined by the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, "COPPA") or under the age of 16 in the European Economic Area (as defined by the General Data Protection Regulation, "GDPR").
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has somehow provided personal information through the App, please contact us immediately so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
11. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on your location, you may have specific rights under applicable privacy laws. Because ARS FOG does not collect personal data, most rights are not applicable. However, we provide this information for transparency:
California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete personal information, the right to opt-out of the sale or sharing of personal information, and the right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights.
We do not sell or share your personal information. Because the App does not collect personal information as defined by the CCPA/CPRA, these rights do not apply in practice. Nonetheless, if you have questions, please contact us.
European Economic Area Residents (GDPR)
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), EEA residents have rights including access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and the right to object to processing. Because the App does not collect, process, or store any personal data as defined by the GDPR, these rights do not apply in practice. If you have concerns, you may also contact your local data protection authority.
Other Jurisdictions
If you reside in a jurisdiction with privacy laws granting you specific rights regarding personal data (including but not limited to Virginia VCDPA, Colorado CPA, Connecticut CTDPA, or Brazil LGPD), please note that the App does not collect personal data. If you have questions about your rights, please contact us.
12. App Tracking Transparency (iOS)
In compliance with Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework, the ARS FOG App does not track you across other companies' apps or websites. We do not collect or use the Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA) or any other identifiers for the purpose of tracking. The App declares "App Does Not Track" in the Apple App Store privacy label and will not present an ATT tracking permission prompt.
13. International Users
The App is developed and operated by ARS from the United States. If you are accessing the App from outside the United States, please be aware that any data stored locally on your device remains entirely on your device. The App does not transfer data across international borders, to ARS servers, or to any third party. Your use of the App is subject to the laws of your jurisdiction as well as these Terms.
14. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, the App's functionality, or applicable law. If we make material changes, we will update the "Effective date" at the top of this page and may provide additional notice through the App or App Store listing. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy. We encourage you to periodically review this page for the latest information.
